Our Future

Science is always about the next question.

At NSCL we have our sights set on the future, on what the next questions will be, and where we will need to be to answer them. Our focus today: the exciting potential of the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams and the further development of NSCL facilities at MSU.

There is great potential to serve our nation by helping to develop applications that will help society. For example, more compact accelerators promise new treatments for cancer. Basic science issues relate to the environment and national security.

Yet the greatest light in our future is the ability to explore the unknown and at the same time continue to educate and train the nation’s scientific workforce at the cutting edge of science.
