The First Laser System for BECOLA Project at NSCL
- Kei Miniamisono, NSCL/Michigan State University
Thursday, November 5, 11:00 AM - Research Discussion
NSCL Seminar Room
A laser system was installed in the laser room at NSCL for BEam COoling and LAser spectroscopy (BECOLA) experiments with low energy beams (~60 keV). The system consists of a titanium-sapphire (TI:S) ring laser pumped by a 15 W solid-state CW laser and the infrared light from Ti:S laser is frequency doubled into blue or UV light. The Ti:S laser is locked on a precision wavelength meter, which is routinely calibrated by a stabilized He-Ne laser for long term stability. The current status of the laser system and future development will be discussed.
